Top Elvis Rock Songs
- CC Rider
Classic. In the 1970s, E used to open his live shows with this number. It's an all-out rocker. If this don't get the party bumpin', then you are a horrible host or something.
- Suspicious Minds
This is sort of the post-68 flag waiver, and for good reason. A solid anthem most people know the words to. Good momentum.
- Poke Salad Annie
Elvis buries Tony Joe White's original version with this rock out rendition. He would really crack out the dance moves during live shows.
- Promised Land
This is just classic rock and roll. As with most of E's tunes, the live recordings are the best.
- Burning Love
Good, steady beat. Kind of weird lyrics, but a solid rocker. This was The King's last rock song to top the charts.
- A Little Less Conversation
With all respect to Paul Oakenfold, he should stick to techno. The original version is much better, a totally dope jam. Forget the remix.
- Tiger Man
Solid, classic, fundamental rock tune. This song was responsible for blowin' the seat out of more jumpsuits than any other.
- Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Rain
Not really a heavy roller, it's still a sweet jam. Ronnie Tut lays the drums down smooth enough to qualify this ballad with rocker status. One of the best recordings in the catalog. I love Willie's version, but he's can't run with these pipes.
- Patch It Up
Another big number in the live shows. Most lyrics are unintelligible, but that's how they should be. Get the recording where he yells at band-member "Johnny" to sing louder mid-way through the song.
- Viva Las Vegas
I think this is kind of a slow pace, but it is the de facto anthem of a city known for rock and roll living.
- Little Sister
Lyrics can be weird if you tune in late on the cut. He's not talking about dating his little sister, he is talking about dating the little sister of his ex-girlfriend (how much more rock star can you get?).
- A Fool Such As I
Though it's got a country and western swing to it, this is a solid foot-tapper. He brings it home during the refrain.
